FSN CONTINUES ITS CELEBRATION OF BLACK HISTORY MONTH

Best Damn Highlights NASCAR's Top 50 Moments; Sunday Night College Hoops Action Features Eight Ranked Teams in Five Great Matchups

BLACK HISTORY MONTH ON FSN

FSN's celebration of Black History Month continues its series of national programming initiatives designed to honor the contributions of African Americans to American culture, both inside and outside the world of sports. Numerous vignettes, profiles and stories lead the full-slate of coverage, highlighted by two special shows airing throughout the month.

In 1951, the University of San Francisco Dons, coming off an amazing season, caused an uproar when the team declined an invitation to play in the Orange Bowl after game organizers pressured the team to leave their two African American players behind. Featuring interviews with the players as they look back on a decision that really was never up for debate, 51 DONS: PRIDE, HONOR & FRIENDSHIP, is an amazing story of camaraderie and respect. Check local listings for airtimes.

FSN is also airing AMERICANS IN FOCUS, featuring extraordinary achievements of African Americans and their perseverance for equality in society during a period when racial segregation was the law of the land.  Profiles include Martin Luther King, Jr. tennis great Arthur Ashe, Charles "Chuck" Cooper, the first African American drafted by an NBA team, the 1966 Texas Western basketball team, legendary Grambling State University coach Eddie Robinson, Dr. Charles Drew, Nobel Prize winner Dr. Ralph Bunche and singer and UN Goodwill Ambassador Marian Anderson. COLLEGE BASKETBALL ON FSN

Ho hum. Pat Summit has the Lady Vols on top again. But Tennessee better not get too comfortable in that spot, as the No. 1 ranked team in the country faces a tough conference battle this week when they host No. 7 LSU in a matchup of SEC undefeateds. If the Vols can win this game, it might just be the tough tune-up they need to propel Summit to her eighth national title. LSU takes on Tennessee on Thursday, February 14.

FSN has the Pac-10 covered with a slate of weekend action, tipping off after the LSU/Tennessee game on Thursday, as No. 7 Stanford looks stay tied atop the league standings when the Cardinal take on an Arizona State squad coming off a series sweep of in-state rival Arizona. The debate, however, will rage on in Palo Alto as to which Cardinal team is better, as the No. 6 Stanford women's team puts its perfect home record (12-0) on the line against an Arizona State women's team that is just one game behind in the standings. Plus, Washington takes on Oregon as the second part of a Saturday Pac-10 double-header and USC closes out the weekend hosting No. 6 UCLA on Sunday, February 16.

On Sunday, college hoops fans will be able to plant themselves in front of the TV and won't have to get up until its time to go to bed. FSN starts its college hoops coverage early in the day, airing five games, including three women's matchups featuring six Top-25 teams, a men's ACC game with Coach K's No. 2 Duke squad and the aforementioned Bruins/Trojans crosstown rivalry game.
