MLB ON FOX GOES 100% HD

2008 Saturday "Game of the Week" action begins April 5

Historic Yankee Stadium gets All-Star send-off

After a whirlwind off-season, FOX Sports continues an American tradition that dates back over 50 years as the FOX SATURDAY BASEBALL GAME OF THE WEEK returns on April 5. This season, for the first time ever, all MLB on FOX games are being produced and broadcast in state-of-the-art high definition, including what is sure to be an evening to remember, FOX Sports' presentation of the 79th All-Star Game, live from historic Yankee Stadium, Tues., July 15 (8 p.m. ET). The 85-year old House That Ruth Built, home to some of baseball's most unforgettable moments and achievements, is in its final season as the home of the Bronx Bombers.

Emmy Award winners Joe Buck and Tim McCarver will headline the MLB on FOX action from the booth.
The 2008 season is FOX Sports' 13th straight as the primary national broadcast television home of Major League Baseball. In that time, FOX Sports has aired 10 World Series ('96, '98, '00-07), 18 League Championship Series and nine All-Star Games ('97, '99, '01-07).

The 2008 FOX SATURDAY BASEBALL GAME OF THE WEEK schedule presently features 21 different teams playing in as many as 71 games. Each Saturday features up to three regionalized games beginning at 3:30 PM ET. The final two Saturdays of the regular season are designated as "wild card" dates, allowing FOX Sports to choose up to three games of significance on each date.

In Week 1, intra-division match-ups are the rule as the Mets visit the Braves, the White Sox travel to Detroit and the Padres host the Joe Torre-led Dodgers. A week later, division showdowns pick-up where they left off last year as the American League wild card Yankees and World Champion Red Sox clash in Boston, while the National League Champion Colorado Rockies travel to Arizona for a rematch of last year's NLCS with their division rival Diamondbacks on April 12. A week later, the New York Mets seek to avenge their monumental collapse as they take on the 2007 National League East Champions Philadelphia Phillies.

The Mets, behind the baseball's biggest off-season acquisition, Johan Santana, along with Torii Hunter and Angels and the Dodgers are presently scheduled to appear nine times on FOX. The Yankees and Red Sox each make eight MLB on FOX appearances, facing-off with each other three times (4/12, 7/5 & 7/26), as are the Indians, led by 2007 AL Cy Young winner C.C. Sabathia and the reloaded Tigers.

Interleague play on FOX begins on Saturday, May 17, when the Dodgers play the Angels, the upstart Brewers travel to Boston to battle the Red Sox and the battle of Ohio resumes when the Indians take on the Reds. On Saturday, June 21, two of the oldest franchises in baseball face-off when the Cardinals visit the Red Sox in a re-match of the 2004 World Series. Interleague play continues Saturday, June 28, when the Yankees visit the Mets at Shea Stadium, also in its final season, while the Cubs head to Chicago's South Side to take on the rival White Sox.

This year's schedule also features baseball's most storied National League rivalry as the Cardinals battle the Cubs three times (5/3, 7/5, 8/9).

After the network's regular-season coverage, FOX Sports provides exclusive live coverage of this year's National League Championship Series and the 104th World Series.

FOX SPORTS: As America's top-rated network for sports for 11-straight years (1997-2007), FOX Sports boasts rights agreements with each of the nation's highest-rated sports. When are you going to wake up and fire McCarver. He is the most biased sports analyst I have ever listened to broadcast ganes. He is so against the Rays they cannot do anything wrong. Because of you continue to use McCarver I have decide not to watch the 08 World Series. No wonder your coverage is getting such low ratings. McCarver is the worst!!!!!

Quit switching back and and fire Tim McCarver. I'm trying to watch the Cubs and Brewers and you keep flippin' to the Phillies and stupid Yankees that doewn't matter. Lilly has a no hitter for 3 innings and you shut him off. One unhappy non East Coast fan.

Crowd microphone - looked better on paper than how it's worked out. How can Fox still think that the sound of the crowd drowning out Vin Scully is a good thing? Please change this set up so that us fans can hear the game being called again!

Hey, Kennedy, You sucked as the RED SOX Manager so, what makes You think that You know anything about base running?<br />Coco Crisp slid into second with his Spikes Low and trying to be safe at second. NOTHING Dirty about it at ALL!!! He hit the glove and if the ball had jarred loose, everyone would have been cheering the heads up way he took the base. The Announcers built it up as a LATE & Dirty Slide and IT WAS NEITHER!!! Crisp went straight at the base with the intention of being safe, not hurting anyone!!! Another Case of the MEDIA making something that was 100% tough, winning Baseball into some kind of Crime!!! The next thing Kennedy will ask is that the Players start wearing Skirts, What a Stinking Wuss!!! Take Kennedy OFF THE AIR and put Him into the OLD WOMAN'S HOME for the Senile Wimps!!! He would have asked Drysdale NOT to Throw at Him... Yeah, Good Luck With That!!! Grow a Pair, Kennedy!!!

I think I would agree with most of you in the fact that there are just too many Yankees, Red Sox and Mets games on Fox. I think the smaller market teams are gertting a raw deal here. How about some coverage for teams like the Royals, Rays, Marlins, and Blue Jays?

Why don't you guys fix the issue with the fantsaty site so watching the "Game of the Week will have more meaning because the average joe watches every statistic when he is involved in Fantasy compared to just looking at the team he's rooting for.

Why do we have to wait until August before the "Game of the Week" isn't the Yankees, Mets, or Red Sox? There are 30 teams in Major League Baseball. Let's see all of them in the national "game of the week" broadcast. And can we get rid of Tim McCarver. Even when the Yankees aren't playing, McCarver talks continuously about the Yankees.

O.K so now I REALLY HATE fox! I bought the mlb.tv package for the computer thinking I would be able to watch the mets saturday day games but the b*stards at fox have also blacked them out! it makes absolutely no sense! here in texas, fox aired the braves/dodgers game, why would they black out the mets/philles game on the package?

whats even worse, is that even if u have the baseball package with your cable provider, the other 2 games not shown on your fox channel are not shown on your package. I'm a mets fan living in tx and every year i would have to miss countless met games due to fox airing the last place rangers or the astros. Your best bet is getting the mlb.tv package on the computer.

Having the games in HD is great, thanks. What is better is this: I am watching the Yankee vs Red Sox on Fox but I have turned off the sound/volume and am listening to the live radio broadcast from MLB.com. I don't have to listen to Tim McCarver ruin the game as he does with every one of your broadcasts. He is the worst analyst in the business so I guess he has a job for life at Fox. Too bad! But as long as I don't have to listen to him, I am happy. No volume, no McCarver.

MR. ERIC KARROS GROWING UP A DODGERS FAN IN L.A. AND NOW LIVING IN TORONTO AND ALSO CHEERING FOR THE BLUE JAYS, I ONLY HAVE ONE THING TO SAY TO YOU: FOR PICKING THE YANKEES TO MAKE THE PLAYOFFS AND BETRAYING THE DODGER NAME YOU SHOULD TURN IN YOUR MEMBERSHIP IN THE DODGER ALUMNI CLUB. NO TRUE DODGER OR DODGER FAN WILL EVER SAY ANYTHING AS POSITIVE AS YOU SAID THE YANKEES WILL MAKE THE PLAYOFFS (ONE OF OUR ALL-TIME HATED RIVALS BESIDES THE GIANTS) AND DON'T FORGET THE JAYS ARE IN THE DIVISION, HAVE BETTER PITCHING THEN NEW DORK, AND JUST SWEPT THE RED SOX AT HOME. YOU ARE NOW CONSIDERED A DODGER TURNCOAT AND SHOULD BE ASHAMED FOR HAVE SUCH FAITH IN THE EVIL EMPIRE.

If you're going to have a "Game of the Week," it should be ONE "Game of the Week" ... it's just unfortunate that fans are forced to watch the game in their area because of the regionalization. For instance, I am a huge Red Sox fan, but on many Saturdays I will miss the Red Sox and be forced to watch the Cardinals or Braves. That includes one Red Sox-Yankees game. Fox should somehow make all the games available regardless of where you live.

Please bring back "What Game You Are Getting". I loved seeing what game was being aired across the country on the Fox affiliates and the announcers for each game. It was a feature I loved for NFL and MLB games on Fox.
