UPCOMING: THE RETURN OF SPORT SCIENCE
FSN's critically-acclaimed show SPORT SCIENCE, called "mind-boggling" (Akron Beacon Journal) and "the coolest show on television" (WBZZ-Tampa Bay), returns on Sunday, March 16 at 9 p.m. with the first of six brand new episodes. These shows take a scientific look at everything from once-in-a-generation plays to the worst sports injuries ever suffered to examining the gear players wear and determine if it protects as well as it should. Plus, this time around, SPORT SCIENCE gives a definitive answer to the question: "What's the hardest thing to do in sports?"
In the episode airing on March 16, Field Warriors, host John Brenkus and his team of scientists examine the most dramatic injuries ever suffered in sporting events and get first-person accounts of the athletes who survived the gruesome injuries. Testing pain, empathy, blood flow and broken bones, this episode also showcases an analysis of the horrific wound suffered by goalie Clint Malarchuk, whose jugular vein was slashed by a skate as well as offering up a scientific look at how jockey Julie Krone managed to survive getting trampled by a horse. Special guests: Malarchuk, MMA star Bas Rutten, Dolphins LB Joey Porter and Hall of Fame jockey Krone.
Over the next six episodes, special guests such as Jaguars RB Maurice Jones-Drew, Raiders K Sebastian Janikowski, Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger, former heavyweight boxing champion Chris Byrd, Chargers DB Quentin Jammer, Capitals star Alexander Ovechkin, NHL legend Luc Robitaille and USA soccer star Abby Wambach highlight a list of dozens of athletes who entered the Sport Science lab as test subjects and walked out amazed by the answers they received.
