by FOX Sports Net
Fox College Sports, the nation's leading source for live televised collegiate games and events, presents the 3rd BoatU.S. National Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship this fall from Lake Lewisville, just outside Dallas, Texas. The tournament is being contested Sept. 18-20, and FCS is planning to televise a 12-episode series in the fall.
"We're proud to once again present the BoatU.S. National Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship," said Director of FCS Max Casanova. "The response we had from last year's NCBFC tournament has been tremendous. With the commitment from FCS alongside devoted collegiate anglers, the sport continues to grow. As more teams compete, we are pleased to continue showcasing college bass fishing to a national audience."
The first 50 two-person teams to register online through www.foxcollegesports.com earn guaranteed spots in the event. Registration begins April 15 and ends on August 1. Presently, well over 50 schools from major conferences like the Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-10 and SEC and have expressed an interest in participating. Teams are expected to fish for approximately 27 hours over the tournament's three days. The full field fishes during the first two days of the competition, and the 10 teams with the most weight accumulated on Days 1 and 2 advance to the Finals on Day 3. All teams begin anew in the Finals.
All 10 schools participating in the finals share $35,000 in prize money, which will be presented to each university's fishing club. Each team also receives a plaque commemorating their achievement, and the winning team members' names will be engraved on the BoatU.S. National Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship trophy.
