Sebastian Janikowski, Abby Wambach, Maurice Jones-Drew and Jason Kapono Star in This Week's Episode of Sport Science

SPORTS EMMY NOMINATIONS

Congratulations to FSN on earning six Sports Emmy nominations, including four nominations for its hit program SPORT SCIENCE.

SPORT SCIENCE, the one-hour show that debuted with seven episodes in Fall/Winter 2007 and is in the midst of airing six consecutive new episodes, is a critical hit that has been repeatedly hailed by television writers all over the country as innovative, interesting and edge-of-your-seat fun.

The show's four nominations tied NASCAR on FOX for the second-most of any program. SPORT SCIENCE was selected in Outstanding Editing, Outstanding Graphic Design, Outstanding Production Design/Art Direction and for the prestigious George Wensel Technical Achievement Award. FSN President Bob Thompson oversees the series that is executive produced for FSN by Executive Vice President Programming and Production George Greenberg and VP of Development David Leepson. SPORT SCIENCE is co-produced with BASE Productions, helmed by co-creators and executive producers Mickey Stern and John Brenkus.

FSN also garnered nominations for Outstanding Technical Team Remote for RED BULL AIR RACES and received a nod for AMAZING SPORTS STORIES in the Outstanding Production Design/Art Direction category.

SPORT SCIENCE

Raptors sharpshooter Jason Kapono never liked the NBA's officiating decree that claims a player can't mathematically get a shot off in less than .3 of a second, the so-called Trent Tucker rule, so he grabbed Lakers guard Jordan Farmar and entered the SPORT SCIENCE lab with the intention of proving he can catch and shoot in fewer than .3 seconds.

But Kapono had to kill some time, because already waiting in the lab were U.S.A Soccer star Abby Wambach, who was taking part in an experiment to see if her bend-it-like-Beckham imitation curved more than a baseball, and Raiders K Sebastian Janikowski, who was warming up for a test to determine if kicking a football with the laces facing the kicker makes a difference in the distance and accuracy.

In this week's episode, Tricks of the Trade, host John Brenkus and his team of scientists delve into all of those experiments, plus Jeanette "Black Widow" Lee aims to defy physics on a pool table, Jaguars RB Maurice Jones-Drew uses the SPORT SCIENCE motion capture studio to find out why NFL defenders have such trouble tackling him and the show's scientists wonder if baseball's hitters should stop warming up with weights on their bats.

The newest installment of SPORT SCIENCE, recently nominated for four Sports Emmy awards, airs Sunday, March 23 at 9 p.m. local
