Veteran Pitching Coach Leo Mazzone Joins MLB on FOX Broadcast Team

Rosenthal: Randolph Might Not Be Right Fit for Mets

MAZZONE ROCKS (AS AN ANALYST) ON FOX THIS WEEKEND — Renowned pitching coach Leo Mazzone joins FOX Sports' SATURDAY BASEBALL GAME OF THE WEEK coverage calling Indians at Twins in Minnesota this weekend. The 18-year Major League Baseball veteran, credited for nurturing aces Greg Maddux, John Smoltz and Tom Glavine during his 15 seasons with the Braves, serves as an analyst for select MLB on FOX broadcasts this year. His broadcast partner this weekend, play-by-play announcer Matt Vasgersian is excited to work with the pitching guru: "I'm really looking forward to working with Leo. Not only do I know I'll learn a lot about pitching, but I plan on joining him in his ab regime around mid-game — I could use the work."

ROSENTHAL: RANDOLPH MIGHT NOT BE RIGHT FIT FOR METS — MLB on FOX insider and FOXSports.com senior baseball writer Ken Rosenthal thinks it s too early in the season for the Mets to hit the panic button, but also feels that if the Amazin's don't start playing up to their potential, they will put their manager in jeopardy. "Willie Randolph will be in trouble if the Mets fail to make the postseason," said Rosenthal. "Their lack of fire was a concern of mine at the end of last season and I still question their mental toughness. It's clear that the team's fan base remains scarred from last season and a change will be warranted if the Mets flop again. I'm not saying Randolph is a bad manager. He just might not be the right manager for this team."

MLB ON FOX WEEK 3 — The FOX SATURDAY BASEBALL GAME OF THE WEEK presents three exciting matchups featuring some of MLB's brightest stars. Led by the young trio of LF Andre Ethier, 1B James Loney and C Russell Martin, the Los Angeles Dodgers arrive at Turner Field to take on the Atlanta Braves.

In Philadelphia, the last two winners of the NL East tangle once again as the Mets take on the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park. After Philadelphia erased a late-season, seven-game deficit to take the division from the Mets on the last day of last season, both teams look to establish themselves as the team to beat in the East early in the season. Meanwhile in Minneapolis, the new-look Twins battle the defending AL Central champion Cleveland Indians. The MLB on FOX pregame show precedes game coverage with host Jeanne Zelasko and analysts Kevin Kennedy and Mark Grace.

MCCARVER RELEASES DIAMOND GEMS — MLB on FOX analyst Tim McCarver has spent nearly 50 years in and around the game of baseball and has had the opportunity to talk to some legends and Hall of Famers about the game's greatest moments. He's put those stories together in his most recent book release "Tim McCarver's DIAMOND GEMS." McCarver compiled tales from more than 70 current and retired baseball players and managers in their own words. Some highlights include Tommy Lasorda's "Life Lessons from My Father," Yogi Berra reveals how he got his nickname, Willie Mays discusses his debt to Jackie Robinson, Ralph Kiner gets a letter from Ty Cobb, Chipper Jones salutes Shea Stadium and Sandy Koufax tries a third pitch. This is McCarver's fifth book release.
