For Mom

Dear Mom...

Thought I'd let you know that I really appreciate the sacrifices, and unconditional love you always gave me. I never told you back when I was a kid. Now I'm telling you publicly, I love you. Sure, I say it at the end of our phone calls, or on a card, but I really do mean it.

You were always the one who had to haul me to my baseball games and practices. You did this while raising my three brothers and one sister too. I know now that you couldn't have had a lot of free time, yet you still made sure I made it to the field. All of this for a smart-aleck kid who wishes that his talent level even approached marginal.

Dad was always working, leaving five kids and a household for you to handle. So, you seldom had time to attend my games, but when you did I was so proud. All the other kids always said I had the prettiest Mom in the stands. I was also very proud of you when the other mothers talked you into playing first base on their softball team. Well, maybe a cross between pride and embarassment, but I was only 11.

Mom, I also wanted to say I'm sorry for any troubles or worries that I've brought you. I'm OK, don't worry about me. Thanks for everything. You're the best mother a guy could have. Happy Mother's Day!

Love,

Gene

My mum has been gone for 5 years now.

Hanny,
Well as you know, Victory Lane at Friday and Saturday night short tracks is just pulling up under the flag stand and getting your pic taken but I'll share the pic IF I get there. Heck at my age, I'm lucky to remember we run counter-clockwise. I missed three races last year because I got lost on the way and ended up at the wrong track. The only good to come out of this turning 60 thing is I hide my own Easter eggs, wrap my own Christmas gifts, and meet new people every day (and they're my employees).

Hanny,
I was tryihg to delete my account recently to again disappear and I took down my profile and my son's pic but never could delete myself completely. The Hollywood sign pic was taken from the window of my other son's apartment when he first moved to Cali after graduating from Indiana University. He was working for "E" Entertainment at the time. He's since moved to San Fran.

Bottom-line, I still don't know how to remove myself. As for my racing, yeah, this year just dirt. I sold my asphalt car. Of course, at 60, I'm running against a bunch of guys young enough to be my grandsons who have a lot more financial backing but I'll definitely post a pic if/when I get the checker this season. Rained out last night after drivers' meeting but leaving soon to try again tonight. Cheers.

Very nicely done. Our mothers do, do so much for us. That sometimes we forget to tell them just how much we appreciate all that they do for us.
