The Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference also ordered Southington coach D.J. Hernandez to take a sportsmanship and ethics coaching class.

Hernandez has apologized for using the list of coded plays from an armband lost by a Manchester High School player. Southington found the list during its 28-14 victory over Manchester on Oct. 22.

Thursday's hearing came after Manchester filed a formal protest.

The CIAC ruled that Southington violated policies on ethics and sportsmanship.

Hernandez is a 24-year-old former University of Connecticut quarterback and wide receiver.
