H.S. earns fine, probation for play list

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP)
A Connecticut high school has been fined $1,000 and its football team put on probation for one season after its coach used an opponent's play list.
The Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference also ordered Southington coach D.J. Hernandez to take a sportsmanship and ethics coaching class.
Hernandez has apologized for using the list of coded plays from an armband lost by a Manchester High School player. Southington found the list during its 28-14 victory over Manchester on Oct. 22.
Thursday's hearing came after Manchester filed a formal protest.
The CIAC ruled that Southington violated policies on ethics and sportsmanship.
Hernandez is a 24-year-old former University of Connecticut quarterback and wide receiver.
