One-handed goalie defies the odds
Maisie Reynolds thinks it's really weird that she's a "left-hand dominant" hockey goalie — considering she doesn't have a left hand.
But the 17-year-old just straps on the protective gear, tapes her stick to her glove since she can't grip it, and plays the game she loves.
"I had always adapted to it. I didn't really realize something was different until I started playing more," she told KOAT-7. "Then I just kind of already was used to it, so I didn't think it was a disadvantage."
Stopping shots on goal is hard enough with two hands, but Reynolds manages to do it with one. She's the only goalie on the New Mexico Mustangs, which is the top girls hockey team in the whole mountain region.
"The opponents never know she doesn't have a hand because she plays just normal," says her mom, Tracy Reynolds.
