Opening day of the high school football season was less than letter perfect for one Long Island team.

Besides dropping its Suffolk County league opener to Huntington 14-6 on Thursday, Harborfields High experienced the indignity of playing in new jerseys that had the school's name spelled incorrectly.

The custom black tops with green accents had "Harborsfields" emblazoned across the front in white stitching.

John Valente, the school's athletic director,  told the uniforms arrived from the unidentified manufacturer on the day of the game -- too late to do anything about the glitch.

Valente said the school has been promised version 2.0 of the jerseys from the company, but it's uncertain if they will be ready for the Sept. 21 home game vs. Deer Park.
