And the winner is ...

After allowing all leagues and cups to come to a complete stop for the 2007-08 season, the FSCCR is back with its final lineup of the best clubs in the world for this past season. Could there be any doubt about the top dog? Manchester United's European and domestic double cemented the Red Devils' place atop the list. And like the Premiership and Champions League, Chelsea finishes a close second.

UEFA Cup surprise winners Zenit St. Petersburg moved up in the final rankings following their impressive win in the Manchester final against Rangers. Meanwhile, La Liga and Serie A winners Real Madrid and Inter Milan finished tied for third place in the FSCCR after equally disappointing European campaigns but solid efforts domestically.

FC Barcelona took a big hit in the final week of the rankings and fell out of the top 10 altogether as the Catalan giants collapsed in the final few weeks of the season. In Germany, Bayern still finished strong with a domestic double although the disappointment of losing in the UEFA Cup semifinals is still resonating in southern Germany.

The FSCCR are compiled from votes by FSI writers and commentators from the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Chile, and Argentina. The world club rankings are published every other Thursday.
