PARIS (AP) - Lyon was held to a 0-0 draw Saturday by Nice and must wait until the next round to try to clinch its seventh straight French title.

Lyon missed several chances to win the match but again failed to score against Nice after being held 0-0 at home earlier this season.

Juninho and Jeremy Toulalan hit the crossbar, while top-scorer Karim Benzema also went close for Lyon.

Lyon has 73 points and extended its lead over second-place Bordeaux to five points after 36 rounds. Bordeaux can trim Lyon's lead to two points if it wins at Marseille on Sunday. There will then be two rounds left.

"It's a good point to gain, Nice is a very good team," Benzema said. "We really wanted to win, but the essential thing is that we didn't lose."

Nice started well with Bakary Kone's angled drive forced a diving save from Lyon goalkeeper Gregory Coupet in the 16th minute.

But then Lyon took charge, with Juninho hitting the woodwork with a free kick in the 25th and going close with another free kick moments later.

Benzema shot just wide after a solo run and midfielder Jeremy Toulalan hit the crossbar from 25 yards (meters) as Lyon dominated the first half.

Nice goalkeeper Hugo Lloris was injured in a clash with Lyon midfielder Kim Kallstrom in the 37th, and was replaced by veteran Lionel Letizi at the interval.

Letizi did well to keep out efforts from Juninho and Benzema in the second half as Lyon pressed forward.

Nancy is in third place with 60 points after a 3-0 win over visiting Strasbourg, which fell to its ninth straight loss. Pascal Berenguer, Marc-Antoine Fortune and Moncef Zerka scored.

Also Saturday, it was: Auxerre 2, Valenciennes 0; Caen 2, Rennes 2; Lens 0, Monaco 0; Lorient 0, Le Mans 0; Sochaux 0, Metz 0; and Toulouse 1, Paris Saint Germain 1.

Kevin Lejeune and Poland striker Ireneusz Jelen scored Auxerre's goals, and Jimmy Briand's injury-time strike earned Rennes a draw after Lilian Compan and Benjamin Nivet canceled out the opening goal from Rennes midfielder Jerome Leroy.

At the bottom of the table, 19th-place Strasbourg slipped closer to relegation with 35 points, while 18th-place PSG, No. 17 Lens and No. 16 Toulouse all have 39 points. Metz has 21 points and has already been relegated.

Saint-Etienne hosts Lille in Sunday's other game.
