Italian defender Zaccardo signs for Wolfsburg

WOLFSBURG, Germany (AP) - Wolfsburg has signed Italy defender Cristian Zaccardo from Palermo to three-year contract, starting next season.

"We are getting a player whose qualities we need," Wolfsburg manager Felix Magath said Friday. "He's a very versatile player."

Magath, who is also head coach, has been rebuilding the team in his first year and still has a chance of reaching the UEFA Cup.
