ROTTERDAM, Netherlands (AP) - Jon Dahl Tomasson has returned to Feyenoord, six years after he won the UEFA Cup with the Rotterdam club.

2009 January Transfers

Tomasson signed a 3-year contract after a free transfer from Spanish club Villarreal, Feyenoord said in a statement.

"It's great to be back and playing for Feyenoord again," Tomasson said. "This is a great club, where I've always felt at home."

The 31-year-old Dane played for Feyenoord from 1998-2002, scoring 71 goals in just over 160 matches, helping the club win the Dutch league in 1999 and the UEFA Cup in 2002.

After leaving Feyenoord, Tomasson played for AC Milan for three seasons, winning the Champions League in 2003. He transferred to Stuttgart in 2005 and to Villarreal in 2007.

New Feyenoord coach Gertjan Verbeek said Tomasson was a strong addition to his squad.

"Wherever he plays, you can guarantee he will score goals," Verbeek said.
