WROCLAW, Poland (AP) - Zlatko Dedic scored a first-half equalizer to help Slovenia hold Poland to a 1-1 draw on Saturday in the opening round of World Cup qualifying.

Michal Zewlakow had given Poland the lead in the 17th minute by converting a penalty after Bostjan Cesar fouled Jacek Krzynowek in the area.

But Dedic pulled the visitors level in the 35th, taking a pass from Milivoje Novakovic and slotting a hard shot past Poland goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski.

Both teams now have one point in Group 3, which also includes the Czech Republic, Northern Ireland, San Marino and Slovakia.
