Uruguay, Bolivia draw 2-2 in World Cup qualifier

LA PAZ, Bolivia (AP) - Two late goals allowed Uruguay to salvage a 2-2 draw against Bolivia in South American qualifying for the World Cup on Tuesday.

Bolivia's Marcelo Martins recovered a ball misplayed by Uruguay goalkeeper Diego Lugano and sent it back into the net in the 15th minute and Martins headed in a cross from Ronald Garcia three minutes before halftime for 2-0.

Carlos Bueno put Uruguay on the board with a header between two defenders in the 63rd, and Sebastian Abreu capped the comeback when he beat Bolivia keeper Carlos Arias with a short header two minutes from the end.

The draw frustrated a Bolivia side which hasn't beaten Uruguay since 1997. Since then, all three matches in La Paz have been drawn.

Uruguay has 13 points to lie in fourth place in the standings on goal difference, while Bolivia has 9 points to be eighth in the 10-team group.

On Wednesday, South America's last qualifiers for the year feature Paraguay vs. Peru, Brazil vs. Colombia, Venezuela vs. Ecuador, and Chile vs. Argentina.
