Hudson and his wife, Kim, who still make their home near the Auburn campus, donated $1 million to the Tigers' baseball program to upgrade the team's clubhouse. The generous donation is part of an overall upgrade of Samford Stadium-Hitchcock Field at Plainsman Park.
Athletic director Jay Jacobs said the clubhouse has not been upgraded in a decade.
Naturally, the improvements to the facility are expected to help recruiting.
Hudson last played for the Tigers in 1997 after coming in from Chattahoochee Valley Community College and still ranks highly on many of the all-time school records. During his senior year, he was named SEC Player of the Year and a consensus All-American after posting a 15-2 record and hitting 18 home runs and 95 RBI.
Construction is set to begin this summer. The Tigers are 31-20 (11-15 SEC) this season.
Tim Hudson, who earned his 200th win earlier this season, may not be a Hall of Fame candidate, but at least he'll have his name etched on something sooner or later.
