Rangers haven't made decision on Berkman

Berkman, who is on the disabled list because of his left hip and right knee, wasn't activated Friday and when and if that happens remains to be seen. Berkman and the club have also talked about the possibility of waiting until the rosters expand on Sept. 1 before making a move with Berkman.
"We're still talking about if I need a little more polish and kind of re-evaluating the whole situation," said Berkman, who played two games for Triple-A Round Rock and two for Double-A Frisco. "Just see kind of where we are. I felt pretty good about everything. I was able to score from second and do some of the things if I'm going to be a positive addition to this roster. I think the main thing is the timing at the plate, the performance and feeling like I'll get on base and score."
Berkman, who has been on the DL since July 7, said a decision could come in the next day or so but he has no concerns about his ability to play again.
Playing at the level he wants is a bigger question.
"If I can't do that, then I don't know that I would be that positive piece the team needs moving forward," Berkman said. "There's no doubt that I could get out there and compete. It's just a matter of what level we're talking about."
Texas general manager Jon Daniels said the club has to decide what the next step is.
"We're still kind of talking through what the plan will be," Daniels said. "The question becomes what role? Will his legs allow him to play every day at a high level or is it a different role? How does he feel about that? Those are the kinds of things we're working through."
Daniels said Berkman has done everything he can to get to this point.
"He's put as much work in and time in as he can," he said. "It's not any way a lack of effort on Lance's part. It's a matter of what his body is going to allow him to do."
