Felipe Massa enjoyed one of his best races of the season in India, eventually finishing fourth after looking at one point like he may end up on the podium.
The result was well timed as Massa is increasingly linked with a move to Williams, where he will replace Pastor Maldonado. Nicolas Todt -who manages both Maldonado and Massa- is negotiating a deal that will see his clients swap places and Maldonado’s sponsor PDVSA end its contract early.
“I’m happy, I think it was a good race,” said Massa. “I think we did a good strategy today, I’m happy for that. The pace was good. Unfortunately we lost a position in the pit stop to Nico [Rosberg], and also there was another car doing one stop and it worked [Grosjean]. That was our problem in the race today, but apart from that I’m happy with the race.”
Meanwhile Massa was full of praise for World Champion Sebastian Vettel.
“First of all he deserved everything he made. Today he signed definitely his name as one of the best F1 drivers, together with Senna, together with Michael, many others that are always in the top names. For sure his name is there. I’m very happy for him, first of all because he’s an incredible driver, and second he’s a great boy.”
