After the publishing of the 19-event 2014 MotoGP race calendar on Wednesday, the dates for winter testing have also been revealed.
As has been the case since the end of the 2012 campaign, the new season now officially begins on the day after the season-ending Grand Prix in Valencia. In a further change for 2014, there will be no inclusion of the Moto2 and Moto3 categories in the official Valencia post-race test, but instead three for days for the MotoGP riders from Monday 11th until Wednesday 13th November. Some teams involved in the intermediate and lightweight classes do, however, intend to carry out private test outings at Jerez (14-15 November) and Almeria (26-28 November).
As per usual, the testing ban kicks into action across December and January before the much-anticipated Sepang MotoGP tests in the first and last weeks of February. There will be a final pre-season test in Qatar which will take place across the Friday, Saturday and Sunday two weeks before the season-launching race is staged on Sunday 23rd March. In the meantime, Moto2 and Moto3 will share testing duties across February and March in either Valencia or Jerez. The precise dates for post-race testing during the 2014 campaign will be confirmed in due course.
