After dominating much of the day in Anaheim, Calif., Dean Wilson turned in a solid performance in the 250SX main event to grab his first victory of the 2014 Monster Energy Supercross season.

Wilson entered the night as the fastest qualifier – nearly one second clear of the field – and nabbed the win in his respective heat race before pulling off a victory in the 15-lap main. The Kawasaki-backed rider sat in second for much of the race until Cole Seely crashed out of the lead with three laps to go, moving Wilson to the point and ultimately the win.

Riding the momentum from his dominant win last weekend, Villopoto set a best lap of 1:02.295 in the closing minutes of the third and final practice session. Justin Barcia tried to bump the Champ from the top spot on his final lap, but it was only good enough for second. James Stewart qualified third followed by the Red Bull KTM duo of Ken Roczen and Ryan Dungey.

Nicky Hayden’s reuniting with a Honda motorcycle will be a potent combination in MotoGP this year. That is the opinion of former World Championship star Randy Mamola, who looks forward to witnessing Hayden’s switch to Drive M7 Aspar Team.

Both Hayden and teammate Hiroshi Aoyama will compete this season on the new Honda RCV1000R, running to ‘Open’ regulations; amongst other things, this means both the American and Japanese will enjoy four extra litres of fuel over the Factory-entered bikes across a race distance, while using the spec Dorna ECU.
