The medical team in Grenoble has begun the process of waking Michael Schumacher from his coma, it has now been formally confirmed.

Schumacher’s manager Sabine Kehm released the news after speculation had emerged in the media over the past 24 hours.

Stewart-Haas Racing founder and co-owner Gene Haas is serious about starting a Formula One team, although he freely admitted it’s far from a done deal.

Haas has applied for a Formula One license with the FIA, the sport’s governing body, and if that license is granted, he will attempt to put a team together in the Charlotte area, which is home to both SHR and the Windshear rolling-road wind tunnel that Haas owns and many NASCAR and Formula One teams alike use.

Red Bull boss Christian Horner remains confident that Renault will be able to address the issues that have afflicted the RB10 this week.

Mercedes recovers from yesterday’s front wing failure to log the highest mileage of any of the teams at Jerez Day 2 testing.

Using a revised wing Nico Rosberg went out on track and he went on to record 97 laps by the end of the day, compared with the 53 of the next most travelled car.
