MotoGP: Edwards and Herrin Preview 2014 Season With COTA

Circuit of The Americas (COTA) this week welcomed MotoGP rider and native Texan Colin Edwards and Moto2 newcomer Josh Herrin for a Q & A session in advance of their 2014 season.

Edwards and Herrin are two of only three U.S. riders competing in the World Championship this year – the other being Nicky Hayden. The colder than normal temperatures and bone-chilling wind kept Edwards from doing some scheduled COTA track laps.

FIA president and former Ferrari boss Jean Todt has returned to the Grenoble hospital bedside of his friend Michael Schumacher.

The seven-time world champion has been in a coma for almost a full month, raising doubts he will ever recover from his late December skiing accident.

Blick newspaper reports that journalists, particularly those in Germany, have been warned away from that sort of speculation with a letter from lawyers representing the great German’s family.

Level 5 Motorsports Awarded GT Daytona Victory After Penalty Overturned

IMSA has reversed the stop-and-hold plus 75 second penalty issued to Level 5 Motorsports on the last lap of the Rolex 24 at Daytona, thus making the No. 555 Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 the new GT Daytona class winner.

IMSA officials reviewed the situation after the race. IMSA’s Scot Elkins, VP of Competition and Technical Regulations, came into the media center more than three hours after the checkered flag to release a statement.

Action Express Racing wins 52nd Rolex 24 at Daytona

Following a late-race dual with Wayne Taylor Racing, Action Express Racing broke through to claim victory in the 52nd Rolex 24 at Daytona, the opening round of the new TUDOR United SportsCar Championship.

The No. 5 Corvette DP took the overall win in the hands of Sebastien Bourdais, Joao Barbosa and Christian Fittipaldi. The trio held off WTR’s No. 10 Corvette DP, driven by Max Angelelli, Jordan, Ricky and Wayne Taylor, by 1.461 seconds after 695 laps.
