Ryan Villopoto overcame adversity Saturday night in Houston, Texas to earn his fourth Monster Energy Supercross win of the season.

After crashing several times in practice and again in his heat, Villopoto advanced out of Semi 2 and went on to dominate the 20-lap 450SX Main Event. The three-time reigning champ moved into the lead on the opening lap and was unchallenged for the remainder of the race, ultimately beating Justin Barcia by 13.7 seconds.

Jason Anderson made a flawless return to action Saturday night, claiming his fourth Monster Energy Supercross win of 2014 as the Western Regional 250SX Class Championship resumed in Houston, Texas.

The Rockstar Energy KTM rider jumped out to an early lead, picked his way through lapped riders and held off a hard-charging Dean Wilson to pick up the victory in front of 49,759 fans inside NRG Stadium.

Practice has wrapped up inside Houston’s NRG Stadium and some great dirt combined with a fast-yet-technical layout has set the tone for what will be a dramatic night of competition. While Ryan Villopoto sits well in control of his own destiny atop the 450SX Class standings, any mistake could have major consequences as several of his rivals can attest. The 250SX West Region is also back in action as Jason Anderson and Cole Seely prepare to resume their title fight.

Red Bull master designer Adrian Newey has mocked Formula 1′s new engine rules, claiming they have produced slower cars without achieving the intended green goals.

Speaking ahead of Sunday’s Bahrain Grand Prix, Newey — who designed the cars that won Red Bull the past four drivers’ championships — said the new 1.6 liter V6 turbo hybrid engines have increased costs and slowed down the cars for little benefit.

In addition to revealing to Sky Italia that he is keen to extend his Yamaha deal for another year, Valentino Rossi also gave an insight into his rivalries, his successors, and what life after MotoGP might bring.

The hot topic was of course his renewed battle with Marquez – what he thought about the World Champion, and whether he is worried that his records will be broken some day: “He’s really good, it makes me worry, but he’s also a nice guy and is always ready to fight. He’s someone who knows how to ride the bike very well and has a great desire to win always, to be out in front – so he’s a great opponent.
