The Champ returned to prominence in Phoenix with a very impressive ride through the field. The gap between Ryan Villopoto and his competitors is not very big right now, but if he starts to get on a roll it won’t be long until he is leaving them scratching their heads.

Each week, The Power Rankings will recognize the movers and shakers in Monster Energy Supercross. Villopoto’s rise to the top last week not only secured his first win of 2014 and the points lead, but also the top spot in this week’s rankings.

Cars: Friday Barrett-Jackson Car To Watch — ‘E’ Series Ford Thunderbird

One of the staples of any Barrett-Jackson auction are the so-called “Baby Bird” Ford Thunderbirds built between 1955-57. These two-seat T-Birds are true icons of the 1950s and have long been a favorite of collectors.

And if you want a Baby Bird, you want one worked on by Amos and Justin Minter of Dallas, the acknowledged gurus of Thunderbird restorations. Now there are lots of beautiful red or white or black T-Birds, but rarely do you see one like Lot 1053, in stunning Gunmetal Gray over a red interior. Just spectacular colors.

Michael Schumacher remains in stable condition following a skiing accident that left the Formula One great with severe head injuries and in a coma since Dec. 29, his manager said on Friday.

The statement from manager Sabine Kehm does not mention the word “critical” for the first time in describing the condition of the seven-time world champion.

WRC: Kubica Retires From Season-Opening Monte Carlo Rally; Ogier Leads

World Champion Sebastien Ogier won three of five stages Friday to take the lead in the season-opening Monte Carlo Rally, while Robert Kubica had to retire after skidding off the road on the second day of the race.

Ogier led fellow Frenchman Bryan Bouffier by 51.1 seconds. Kris Meeke of Britain slipped to third, 1 minute, 38 seconds off the lead. Mads Ostberg of Norway and Jari-Matti Latvala of Finland rounded out the top five.
