MotoGP: Iannone Quickest As Crutchlow Crashes In Qatar Warm-Up

Pramac Racing’s Andrea Iannone may have qualified 11th on the grid for the Commercial Bank Grand Prix of Qatar but he was the pace setter in Warm-Up at Losail on Sunday evening.

The Italian MotoGP sophomore was 0.054s quicker than his closest rival Aleix Espargaro (NGM Forward Racing), topping the timesheet with a 1:55.657s lap as night descended on the track ahead of tonight’s racing.

Former team boss Flavio Briatore has slammed the new face of Formula 1.

The 63-year-old Italian, absent from F1 in the wake of the ‘crashgate’ scandal, said he watched the Melbourne race last weekend and thought it was “disrespectful” to the spectators and television audience.

The Grand Prix Commission have updated the regulations of the FIM Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix.

The Grand Prix Commission, composed of Messrs. Carmelo Ezpeleta (Dorna, Chairman), Ignacio Verneda (FIM Executive Director, Sport), Herve Poncharal (IRTA) and Takanao Tsubouchi (MSMA) in the presence of Javier Alonso (Dorna) and Mike Trimby (IRTA, Secretary of the meeting), in a meeting held on March 22 in Losail, made the following decisions:

Sporting Regulations – Effective Immediately

The Commission unanimously decided to make small modifications to the text of the decision made on March 18 concerning the MotoGP class. This was to explain more clearly the conditions under which a MotoGP class Manufacturer competing under Factory option regulations, but benefiting from certain concessions, would lose concessions based on race results.

James Stewart came from behind to win Saturday night’s Monster Energy Supercross race at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada.

The Yoshimura Suzuki ace passed 14 riders in the 20-lap main event and beat Justin Barcia by 3.2 seconds to pick up his 49th career victory – moving him past Ricky Carmichael for second on the all-time wins list. Stewart now trails all-time leader Jeremy McGrath by 23.

GEICO Honda’s Justin Bogle led from start to finish Saturday night in Toronto to earn his first career Monster Energy Supercross 250SX Class victory.

Bogle, who scored a career-best second-place finish last weekend in Detroit, Mich., one-upped himself this time around with a dominant performance in front of 48,892 fans inside the Rogers Centre. Bogle’s triumph snaps a seven-race win streak put forth by the Pro Circuit Kawasaki squad – dating back to Dean Wilson’s 250SX Class Western Regional victory at Anaheim 3.
