Action Express Racing topped the time charts in near-frigid opening day of testing at Daytona International Speedway, as TUDOR United SportsCar Championship teams prepare for the season-opening Rolex 24 at Daytona.

Christian Fittipaldi pedaled the No. 5 Corvette DP to a quick lap of 1:38.630 in Friday morning’s 1-hour and 45-minute session.

It stood as the quickest time of the day, despite a 1:38.898 lap time recorded by the No. 90 Spirit of Daytona Corvette DP of Richard Westbrook in the afternoon.

Chevrolet Corvettes have been a staple in the automotive world for more than 60 years. Regardless of the generation, Corvettes have always demanded – and received – attention from car aficionados and collectors. When Barrett-Jackson rolls into WestWorld of Scottsdale on Jan. 12, more than one hundred Corvettes will cross the auction block and shine under the bright lights as they transfer from one car collector to the next.

F1: Fans Honor Injured Schumacher On His 45th Birthday

Michael Schumacher’s friends and family took turns by his hospital bed Friday, as fans rallied outside the hospital to support the critically injured Formula 1 great on his 45th birthday.

Schumacher has been in a medically induced coma since Sunday, when he fell while skiing and struck his head on a rock. His manager, Sabine Kehm, said Friday that his condition remains stable but critical.

The German driver and his family typically celebrate Christmas, New Year and his birthday at their ski house in the French resort of Meribel, where the accident happened.
