The Champ Is Here: Scott Dixon wants to drive with his regular No. 9 this year rather than switch to the traditional champions’ No. 1. Either way, Dixon enters as the defending series champion as he chases a fourth championship in 2014.

Wednesday to Friday will be a critical three days as MotoGP pre-season testing continues at Malaysia’s Sepang International Circuit. This will mark the last time before the opening race that all Factory teams share a track with their rivals. Marc Marquez although will not be attending.

Immediately after Sepang, the Official riders of Repsol Honda, Yamaha Factory Racing and Ducati Team are set to travel directly to Phillip Island for their next test before the rest of the teams regroup for the Qatar test that same week. In the meantime, Sepang is the venue as the riders look to resume their programs from the earlier test at the start of February.

Following the accident that saw No. 99 GAINSCO Auto Insurance Corvette Daytona Prototype driver Memo Gidley suffer severe injuries at this year’s Rolex 24 At Daytona, GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racings has elected to suspend operations for the balance of the 2014 season.

Ferrari technical director James Allison says that the Italian team made progress at the first Bahrain test.

Although Kimi Raikkonen had a crash right at the end of the last day the F14 T ran an encouraging number of test laps.

Susie Wolff will run two FP1 sessions for Williams this season in her ongoing role as a development driver, the team has confirmed.

She’ll be the first female driver to take part in official track action on a Grand Prix weekend since Giovanna Amati tried to qualify for three races with Brabham in 1992.
