Lotus team principal Eric Boullier says that the Quantum deal is still happening, despite widespread skepticism in the paddock.

The team admits that no funding has arrived, despite the deal being announced in June. Until the situation is clear the team cannot confirm a partner for Romain Grosjean.

Pirelli’s plans for teams to run its prototype 2014 tires in practice in Brazil Friday were scuppered by rain.

The day was about providing Pirelli with a comparison with its current tires and also giving the teams some aerodynamic information. To the surprise of many observers, Sebastian Vettel did complete one lap, in the rain, on the tires.

Magnus Racing recently concluded a “successful” off-season sports car test at Sebring/Daytona with “most important” driver John Potter and “unimportant” driver Andy Lally.

After that, their PR department won the internet.

The team released a post-test Mad Libs-style press release that was epic in every sense of the word, and for that, we are forever grateful.

Bernie Ecclestone believes Red Bull team principal Christian Horner would be the “ideal” person to succeed him as Formula 1 chief executive.

Ecclestone, 83, has been in charge of F1 for 40 years and enjoys a close friendship with Horner, who has overseen Red Bull winning the constructors’ and drivers’ titles in the last four seasons.

“Christian would be ideal,” Ecclestone told British media at the Brazilian Grand Prix in Sao Paulo. “I would be happy to hold his hand. We could have a transitional period. It needs someone who knows the sport.
