Mark Webber will start his final Grand Prix in Brazil from fourth on the grid after struggling to get the best out of his intermediate tires on a drying track in Q3.

Meanwhile Webber is playing down the emotional resonance of his last Formula 1 weekend.

“The drivers’ briefing was interesting,” he said. “Just because the guys gave me a very good reception, and I had a little chat with them. Obviously your colleagues, they’re the ones that you work so hard to compete against over 17 years, and that means a lot to you, so that was quite touching.

Fernando Alonso doubts he’ll win the Brazilian Grand Prix on Sunday despite earning the third-best spot on the grid from qualifying at a rainy Interlagos.

Alonso hasn’t started from the second row since the fourth race of the year in Bahrain, but the two-time world champion said it’s going to be “very difficult” to win.

Marc Marquez, Pol Espargaro and Maverick Viñales traveled to Madrid on Thursday as the three Spanish World Champions of the MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3 classes of the World Championship received congratulations from Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy.

Praising the riders for their ‘hard work and dedication’ in a season that saw Spaniards clinch all three World Championship titles for their respective Repsol Honda Team, Tuenti HP 40 and Team Calvo outfits, Rajoy labelled the trio as ‘absolutely unbeatable’.

Video: Courtney, Premat Involved In Horror V8 Supercars Crash

James Courtney and Alexandre Premat escaped serious injuries in a scary crash during Saturday’s V8 Supercars race at Phillip Island.

On Lap 11 of the 28-lap race, Premat lost control and veered off the circuit – sliding helplessly across the grass – before re-entering the racing line and colliding with Courtney. The rear of Premat’s car slammed into Courtney’s driver side door, lifting both cars off the ground.
