MotoGP: Rossi, Lorenzo Reflect On Positive First Test At Sepang

Yamaha Factory Racing colleagues Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo completed the third and final day of the first official test of the 2014 MotoGP preseason second and third respectively on the Sepang timesheets.

The test proved to be successful for both riders, with Rossi especially happy at the end of the workout. The nine-time World Champion was able to record his best ever time at the Sepang circuit, dropping under the two-minute mark to finish in second place less than two tenths from front man Marc Marquez.

Daniel Ricciardo will have to make his own way at Red Bull, champion teammate Sebastian Vettel has declared.

24-year-old Australian Ricciardo, with just 50 grands prix under his belt, has arrived at the reigning title-winning team to replace Vettel’s retiring teammate, the highly-experienced veteran Mark Webber.

Pol Espargaro was delighted to have achieved his main aim of the week at the Sepang Official MotoGP Test: to avoid crashing. At the same time, the new Monster Yamaha Tech3 rider admits that there is still a long way to go.

Espargaro joins Bradley Smith at Tech3 for 2014, stepping up to Herve Poncharal’s team in the premier class as the reigning Moto2 World Champion.

James Stewart was the class of the field Saturday night at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, Calif., leading wire-to-wire to earn his first Monster Energy Supercross victory of the season.

The two-time series Champion worked his way into first on the opening lap and held off reigning Champion Ryan Villopoto to lead all 20 laps and pick up his first win in nearly one year.

Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Justin Hill cruised to his first career Monster Energy Supercross 250SX win Saturday night in San Diego, Calif. and became the fourth different rider to win a main event race this season.

The young rider from Yoncalla, Ore. assumed the lead on Lap 2 when his teammate Dean Wilson clipped a tuff block and crashed. Hill took advantage of the mistake and was unchallenged for the remainder of the 15-lap feature.
