The long battle between Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing and Panther Racing for Army National Guard sponsorship ended Thursday, with the coveted funding moving to Graham Rahal’s car for the upcoming IndyCar season.

The Rahal organization sought the sponsorship last fall, but Panther Racing appealed to keep the contract it has held since 2008. All military sponsorships are reviewed annually.

The Englishman steps up to the premier class with GO&FUN Honda Gresini, as the runner-up in last year’s Moto2™ World Championship. He ended this week’s three-day test in 21st place.

“I was pretty happy, really,” Redding commented. “I know we were pretty down on the timesheets, but a lot of guys did their (quickest) lap times in the morning and then didn’t get close to them again. I don’t have the experience yet to go out and drop that lap time in.

Nicky Hayden was somewhat outspoken following the third and final day of this week’s Sepang test, having finished proceedings in 13th position.

For 2014, the 2006 World Champion switches from Ducati Team to Drive M7 Aspar, riding the all-new Honda RCV1000R motorcycle. However, the American admitted to feeling rather dissatisfied on Thursday.

Formula 1 looks set to introduce an eleventh-hour change to the qualifying rules for 2014, according to media reports.

Just five weeks ahead of the Melbourne season opener, team bosses, Bernie Ecclestone and the governing FIA will meet in Bahrain on Feb. 21, coinciding with official testing in the island Kingdom, to discuss the issue.

Swedish car maker Koenigsegg has released a teaser photo of the One:1 prior to its scheduled debut at the Geneva Motor Show.

The latest supercar out of the Koenigsegg stable will produce one horsepower for every kilogram, which is where the name ‘One:1′ originates. According to the Wall Street Journal, the car weighs in at 1,340 kilograms (2,954 pounds), meaning it boasts an unbelievable 1,340 horsepower.
