F1: Sergio Perez Announces His Departure From Team McLaren

Sergio Perez has confirmed his departure from McLaren by issuing a statement via Twitter.

McLaren appears to have copied Ferrari’s choice with Felipe Massa by allowing its driver to announce his exit before any formal statement from the team, as it’s hard to believe that he will have issued it without first consulting the team. Nevertheless the affair had dragged on for longer than it needed to.

Yamaha Factory Racing wrapped up its final day of 2013 on-track work Tuesday in the second of the three days of official testing at Valencia. Riders Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi will not continue to ride Wednesday, having completed the testing schedule required by Yamaha.

On a busy day at the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia, 20 riders took to the track on the second day of post-GP testing, with new World Champion Marc Marquez ending the session as the fastest rider.

The Repsol Honda team had not tested on Monday, but Marquez and Dani Pedrosa both had full days on Tuesday comparing the new 2014 Honda with their existing machines and completing nearly 150 laps between them.
