Valentino Rossi’s decision to spilt with long-serving crew chief Jeremy Bruges ends perhaps the most successful collaboration in the history of MotoGP.

Rossi won his seven premier-class world titles and 80 MotoGP races with Burgess, a former racer from Australia, masterminding the garage operation at three factory teams – Honda, Yamaha and Ducati.

Today in Valencia, Honda Racing Corporation introduced the Honda RCV1000R prototype machine to be used from 2014 in the MotoGP “Open” Class (prototype machines with Magneti Marelli hardware and software, 24 liter tank and 12 engines per season). The goal of this new machine, which will be sold and not leased to the teams, is to compete in MotoGP with a reasonable budget.

Kimi Raikkonen might already be regretting his impending return to Ferrari, according to a pundit.

The Finn had a particularly bad-tempered weekend in Abu Dhabi, starting with his no-show on Thursday and ending with a rare first-lap crash and rapid return to the airport in flip-flops.

America’s most recent MotoGP World Champion, Nicky Hayden, won the title in 2006 in a tension-filled final race showdown with Valentino Rossi.

Now it is the turn of Jorge Lorenzo and Marc Marquez, both Spaniards and shooting for the crown on home turf in Sunday’s Valencia Grand Prix.
