After making his mark in touring cars, Andy Priaulx is set to begin a new chapter in GT racing, as the three-time WTCC champion shifts to racing full-time in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship this year.

The 40-year-old BMW factory driver, who is coming off a two-year stint in the German manufacturer’s DTM program, has joined BMW Team RLL, teaming with Bill Auberlen in the No. 55 BMW Z4 GTE for the entire 11-round championship.

It all begins with this weekend’s Rolex 24 at Daytona, where the accomplished Brit will be chasing top honors in the GT Le Mans class.

The 40th Anniversary of Monster Energy Supercross was expected to be a celebration of history and honoring the men who shaped the sport into what it is today. At the end of 20 laps in the 450SX Class main event, the entire industry couldn’t help but feel nostalgic after Chad Reed emerged victorious, passing and fending off his longtime rival James Stewart to do so.

Each week, The Holeshot will provide 23 takeaways – a full starting gate – from the most recent round of action.

1. I knew Anaheim 2 would be critical to Reed’s hopes in 2014, but I think that could be an understatement based on how he won that race. The veteran lurked in the back of the lead pack for nearly the entire main event and put on a late charge in the closing laps to move into the lead and run away.

Bernie Ecclestone has received some respite in his ongoing legal battles with the news that an action in the United States has been dismissed by the Supreme Court of New York.

The action was taken by investment company Bluewaters Communications Holdings, which lost out to CVC when the F1 business was sold in 2005.

Bluewaters complained that CVC had actually made a lower bid.

Williams has released the first images of its new Mercedes-powered FW36, giving us the first ‘official’ look at what noses will look like in 2014.

Although Force India showed its VJM07 on Wednesday, the nose was not visible in the side view.

The computer-generated pictures, showing the car in the team’s traditional blue testing livery, make it very clear that noses will be a huge talking point as the real cars are unveiled over the next few days.

Chip Ganassi Racing (Riley-Ford DP): The five-time and defending race winners head into the Rolex 24 as favorites again, despite some question marks hanging over the reliability of the debuting Ford EcoBoost engine. Stacked with a star-studded lineup of Scott Pruett, Memo Rojas, Jamie McMurray, Sage Karam (No. 01) and Scott Dixon, Tony Kanaan, Marino Franchitti and Kyle Larson (No. 02), both will likely be fast, but can they last?
