Lewis Hamilton managed to convert ninth on the grid to second at the flag in Austria, but despite the successful damage limitation the Mercedes driver was clearly frustrated to lose out to teammate Nico Rosberg once again.

Hamilton had a superb first lap and was in fourth place – behind Rosberg – by the end of it.

“We’ve been working very hard on our starts throughout the year,” said Hamilton. “And the team have done a great job to help out with that, and so I got one of the best starts I’ve ever had really and positioned the car in the correct places.

The Jaguar E-Type needs no icing on its cake of sultry vintage speed, but this find has some anyway. Once owned by a Bugatti race driver, this E-Type was worked over by a race mechanic at Bugatti’s shop in Molsheim, France, to extract more power—enough for an extra 7 mph of top end.

Even aside from the Bugatti pedigree, however, this E-Type is lust-worthy. The exterior, while dusty, appears to be almost entirely straight and rust-free, while the interior is nearly pristine—even after sitting in storage for the past 42 years.

Audi has joined in on the 2014 FIFA World Cup festivities by building a giant LED soccer scoreboard that is illuminated by the headlights of 28 Audi A8 sedans.

The 40-foot tall structure in Brooklyn, N.Y., is comprised of 45 shipping containers with the “digital clusters” being made up entirely of LED headlights on Audi’s flagship sedan. The scoreboard, which can be seen from miles away and even from an airplane, kicked off with Team USA’s victory over Ghana last Monday and will showcase the scores of every soccer match through July 14.

Even locking the front row on the grid of the Austrian Grand Prix wasn’t enough for Williams to challenge Mercedes’ dominance in Formula One.

Felipe Massa and Valtteri Bottas started 1-2 for Sunday’s race but, past the halfway mark, the Mercedes pair of eventual winner Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton took the lead and stayed there.

VIDEO: Viper Nearly Crushes Safety Car During Nurburgring 24 Hour

Add this to the long list of bonehead moves we’ve seen lately in automobile racing.

Early on in this weekend’s Nurburgring 24-Hour race, a safety zone was in effect and all drivers were forced to drastically reduce their speed as track marshals cleared the area — much like we saw in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. However, the No. 210 Viper did not slow in time and nearly crushed the intervention car that was sitting on the track.
