Yamaha rivals Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo have not written off their chances in Sunday’s San Marino Grand Prix despite the record-breaking qualifying pace of Honda rival Marc Marquez.
Both Rossi and Lorenzo intend to carry the fight to the flashy and fearless rookie Marquez in the 28 lap race.
The trio share the front row of the grid with Lorenzo (second) and Rossi (third) planning instant attacks on Marquez’s stunning pace.
Marquez claimed pole position with a massive 0.5s gap over the Yamaha pair.
Always inspired by racing at home Rossi said his return to strong qualifying form will be the platform for his podium challenge.
