IndyCar fined Scott Dixon $30,000 on Friday and placed him on probation through the end of the year for disparaging comments after the Grand Prix of Baltimore.
Ferrari Has To Keep Pressure On Red Bull, Says Domenicali
Stefano Domenicali says that Ferrari has to put pressure on Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull, and not just rely on taking advantage of any problems for the championship leaders.
Domenicali said after seeing Vettel’s pace in FP2 Friday that the Italian team’s main rival could be hard to beat in Monza.
“From what we have seen today, for sure above all in the second session, Red Bull seems to be very strong,” said Domenicali. “I have to say, we have seen them doing a lap time immediately, so normally this is a good sign. Therefore, I am expecting, for sure, them to be very strong. I think it will be a tough weekend, for everyone, because with this kind of temperature also the car will be under pressure.
Formula One leader Sebastian Vettel posted the fastest time in the second practice for the Italian Grand Prix, more than six-tenths of a second faster than teammate Mark Webber for a Red Bull 1-2 on Friday.
Vettel, who won at Monza in 2011, was 0.623 seconds faster than Webber and looked in complete control from the start of the afternoon session. It is an ominous sign for his rivals ahead of Sunday’s race.
“It was a good day, that’s for sure, but we’ve got our feet on the ground,” Vettel said. “It’s still only a Friday. I don’t know, maybe the others had some problems. But regarding ourselves, it was a good day, I didn’t have any issues with the car, it felt pretty comfortable.
Worsening weather at Twin Ring Motegi forced HRC to cancel Casey Stoner’s second and final day of testing at the venue.
With rain having already delayed proceedings on Wednesday, double World Champion Stoner and his crew had hoped for an improvement on Day 2.
Following a previous gathering at Motegi in August, during which Stoner focused on the development of the RC213V raced by Dani Pedrosa and Marc Marquez, the latest test could have also seen the Australian riding the ‘Honda production racer’ that will be used by selected teams in 2014.
