MotoGP: Hayden Undergoes Successful Surgery In Italy

DRIVE M7 Aspar rider Nicky Hayden underwent surgery on Tuesday, with an arthroscopic cleaning of his right wrist carried out by Dr Riccardo Luchetti in Italy.

Hayden was operated on to cure a niggling wrist problem that caused him to pull out of the Mugello weekend. The American had already ridden through the pain at the previous rounds in Spain and France, and falling on it again in Le Mans.

It’s been so long since Graham Rahal scored his first – and most recent – IndyCar Series victory that if a child were born that day the kid would be 6 years old by now.

It was April 6, 2008 when Rahal became the “face of unification” as the Champ Car Series dissolved and many of its teams were absorbed by the Indy Racing League to form today’s IndyCar Series. He was just a teenager and a win in his first-ever IndyCar Series race was a record for youngest winner.

Adrian Newey admits that Sebastian Vettel has struggled to adapt to the loss of the blown diffuser in 2014 and that Red Bull Racing is trying to adjust the car to suit his style.

Vettel was the master of driving with the extra rear downforce that was generated until the use of exhaust gasses was completely outlawed for this year.

American F1 fans will have good reason to get to Montreal early on Friday as Alexander Rossi will be out on track for Caterham in FP1.

The GP2 star will also be in action in Austin later in the season.

“FP1 in Montreal will be my first drive of the year in the 2014 F1 car,” said Rossi. “But after the amount of laps I’ve done in the sim with CT05 I’m already pretty familiar with how it’ll be inside the cockpit.

Helio Castroneves thinks he might be hitting his prime — now that he’s celebrated his 39th birthday.

Castroneves capped a dominant weekend for Penske Racing in Detroit with a cruise down a bumpy street on Belle Isle, where he won the first of his 29 open-wheel races in 2000.
