Valentino Rossi is travelling to the Sachsenring in a distinctly relaxed fashion, having last week inked a new two-year contract with Movistar Yamaha MotoGP which keeps the nine-time World Champion with the team until at least the end of 2016.

It was on Wednesday after the previous race at Assen that the new Rossi-Yamaha contract was formally announced, with ‘The Doctor’ now able to fully concentrate on the eni Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland.

Mercedes may very well be forced to remove its ‘FRIC’ (front-to-rear interconnected) suspension system from its car before next weekend’s German Grand Prix.

With several teams reportedly expected to lodge protests, only an unlikely unanimous vote from the teams may now save the ‘FRIC’ suspensions from being banned before the next race.

Wednesday’s announcement of Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa to continue with the team alongside Marc Marquez, along with last week’s news of Valentino Rossi extending his contract with Yamaha, has hurt Jorge Lorenzo’s bargaining power when it comes to negotiating terms with Yamaha for an extended contract.

Though it would come as no surprise to see Lorenzo to continue with the Factory Yamaha team, most everything else regarding this winter’s MotoGP silly season is still up in the air.

Nico Rosberg has hit back at his teammate Lewis Hamilton, after the Briton said next weekend’s German Grand Prix is “not really his home race.”

F1 now heads from Hamilton’s home turf at Silverstone to Hockenheim, where German-born Rosberg might expect similar levels of local support.

Not so, Hamilton told reporters, as Rosberg has a Finnish father and he grew up and still lives in Monaco.
