Roger Penske’s team got off to a fast start on a slow day at Indianapolis.

Less than 24 hours after working feverishly to convert three cars from road-course setups to oval setups, the winningest owner in Indianapolis 500 swept the top three spots on the first day of practice Sunday.

Australia’s Will Power finished with a fast lap of 223.057 mph, Colombia’s Juan Pablo Montoya was second at 222.502 and Brazil’s Helio Castroneves was third at 222.373. Only three other drivers topped 222.

Red Bull Racing underlined its position as the team pursuing Mercedes as Daniel Ricciardo led the chase with his third place in Barcelona.

Even better news for the team was that Sebastian Vettel drove a superb race from 15th to fourth, indicating that he finally feels at home in the RB10.

Ferrari drivers and staff have gathered to send a message of hope to Michael Schumacher and commemorate his first Ferrari Formula One victory at the Spanish Grand Prix with the team he led to five world championships.

Drivers Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen flanked new team principal Marco Mattiacci among about a hundred team members in front of a sign saying “Remembering your first win with us (hash)forzamichael.”

Ford celebrated last month’s 50th anniversary of the original Mustang’s debut at the 1964 New York World’s Fair by unveiling a special edition version of the latest 2015 model. Called the Mustang 50 Year Limited Edition, it will be built in a run of just 1,964 examples, all based on the V-8-powered Mustang GT fastback coupe.

Well, that’s not entirely true as Ford Motor Company has confirmed that one additional Mustang 50 Year Limited Edition will be built, and this one will be a convertible. In fact, it will be the only Mustang 50 Year Limited Edition to feature a convertible roof and it could be yours.

Bernie Ecclestone met with F1 race promoters in Barcelona on Saturday, and inevitably engine noise was top of the agenda.

Melbourne’s Ron Walker was among those who stressed that it’s a serious issue that has to be addressed, due to the negative reaction from fans. The consensus was that next week’s test by Mercedes will be crucial.
