Coming unto the fifth round of 2014 Formula 1 season at Barcelona, one has to wonder if Alonso can pull off the same sort of victory as he did at this circuit one year ago.

If he does, it is sure to be a popular win, as the Spanish crowds have demonstrated their passion for the two-time champion before when he has won at home. With this in mind, let’s take a look back at some of the most memorable and emotional Formula 1 home Grand Prix wins.

F1: Mercedes to test ‘megaphone’ exhaust in Spain

Mercedes is preparing to show off a louder engine note during the Spanish Grand Prix weekend.¬†Early this week, team chief Toto Wolff revealed that one proposed solution to the turbo V6 sound ‘problem’ is a sort of “megaphone” addition to the exhaust.

Along with Ferrari and Renault, F1′s three engine makers have been considering how to spice up the sound of F1 2014, after some spectators and promoters were shocked at the difference compared to the screaming V8s of 2013.

VIDEO: Pennzoil’s ‘Yellow Submarine’ scheme back at Indy

Pennzoil will return its iconic “Yellow Submarine” paint scheme to the Indianapolis 500 this month with three-time winner Helio Castroneves.

The bright, distinctive design earned its nickname in 1979 when Johnny Rutherford first used the scheme, then won in the car at Indianapolis Motor Speedway a year later.

IndyCar: Bourdais pleased with new track, fastest in first practice

Four-time Champ Car World Series champion and former F1 driver Sebastian Bourdais was quickest in opening practice at the newly configured Indianapolis road course Thursday morning.

“We had a good test on the new road course last Wednesday,” said Bourdais, “I have to say I had some reservations early on because the corners (of the new racetrack) are very tight, but the grip more than makes up for it.”
