Bernie Ecclestone remains confident of winning his legal battle in Germany – despite a British judge saying today that the F1 boss had been involved in bribery.

In a civil action for damages filed by Constantin Media the judge deemed that the German media group had suffered no loss in the sale of F1 to CVC, and thus found in Bernie’s favor on the key point.

However, he also made it clear that he believed that Ecclestone had bribed jailed banker Gerhard Gribkowsky.

Kevin Magnussen and McLaren were fastest on the second day in Bahrain today as the teams gradually began to pick up the pace.

However, they are still far from the sort of lap times they are likely to achieve in full qualifying form come April.

Renault has finally officially confirmed that it has concluded a deal with Lotus for “2014 and beyond.”

Although the two parties have prepared for this season as normal the contract was not signed until commercial arrangements were completed. The delay is a clear indication of the difficult financial situation at the team.

World Champion Marc Marquez will be unable to ride at next week’s second 2014 MotoGP test session at Sepang, having broken his right fibula during a dirt track training session in Spain on Wednesday afternoon.

The accident occurred in Lleida, west of Barcelona and close to Marquez’s home town of Cervera. The rookie premier class title winner of 2013, who on Monday had celebrated his 21st birthday, was immediately taken to the Quiron Dexeus University Hospital in Barcelona where he was treated by Dr. Xavier Mir for a spiral fracture of the distal third of his right fibula (bone between knee and ankle).

Bernie Ecclestone has won the latest of his legal battles related to the Gribkowsky Affair – in this instance a damages suit brought against him in the High Court in London by the German media company Constantin Medien, a former owner of the F1 Group.

Constantin claimed to have lost out over the sale of F1 to CVC in 2006, and was suing for $140m.
