- At the opening race of 2013 in Qatar, Marquez became the fourth youngest rider of all-time to finish on the podium in the premier-class of Grand Prix racing after Randy Mamola, Eduardo Salatino and Norick Abe

- His first MotoGP win at the Grand Prix of Americas at the age of just 20 years 63 days, made him the youngest ever rider to win a premier-class Grand Prix, taking the record from Freddie Spencer who was 20 years 196 days when he won the Belgium 500cc GP at Spa-Francorchamps in 1982

Post-race celebratory ‘doughnuts’ have been legalized by F1′s governing body.

Sebastian Vettel was given an official reprimand by the FIA after crossing the line in India to become World Champion for the fourth time last season.

“Are you serious?” Lewis Hamilton asked rhetorically when told of Vettel’s penalty. “That’s crazy!”

French investigators have ruled out any criminal wrongdoing in the debilitating ski accident of Formula One great Michael Schumacher, a state prosecutor said Monday.

Albertville prosecutor Patrick Quincy said “no infraction by anyone has been turned up” and the probe has been closed, his office said in a statement — responding to questions about whether the Meribel ski station in the French Alps or an equipment maker might have had some role in Schumacher’s injury.

Actor Patrick Dempsey’s racing team has been selected to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Dempsey Racing said Sunday that its Porsche 911 GT3 RSR was accepted Thursday by Automobile Club de l’Ouest’s selection committee to run in the GTE-Am class in the June race. The team was fourth last year.
