Earlier, with the iconic Italian drinks brand set to return to formula one in 2014, it was believed the once-great British team would only officially unveil its new title sponsor and much-anticipated Martini livery ahead of the season opener in Australia.

But, actually, Williams – having tested its new Mercedes-powered FW36 in all-blue colors so far – said only that it would launch its race livery in time “for” Australia, not necessarily “in” Australia.

The FIA has now formally ratified a rule change that will allow teams to play six curfew jokers rather than only two.

Although the change was tabled some time ago it has only just been added to the latest version of the Sporting Regulations. It will be in place only for this season, and acknowledges that teams face extra challenges in the first year of the new rules.

Juan Pablo Montoya’s attitude hasn’t changed since he left NASCAR for IndyCar three months ago – he’s just a whole lot happier.

No, he doesn’t yet have the hang of Indy cars, but he knows that will come. And Montoya isn’t concerned with what the pundits think of his performance – as long as he satisfies himself.

Marc VDS Racing’s Team’s Tito Rabat was fastest as Moto2 testing resumed on Tuesday in Jerez. The Spaniard was joined inside the top three by Interwetten Paddock Moto2’s Tom Luthi and his own team-mate Mika Kallio.

There were almost eight hours of track action on Tuesday as the intermediate and lightweight classes shared the circuit for their testing duties. However, there was a distinct lack of action in the morning follow heavy rain overnight.

Will, just a little bit about how potentially the momentum of last year can carry over to this year and your objectives and outlook for 2014.

WILL POWER:  That was an unusual finish to a season for me if you go off the last few years.  Definitely had a good off-season and very motivated to have a good year.
