Ryan Villopoto will be unable to defend his 2013 AMA Pro Motocross Championship title after opting to get knee surgery to fix a lingering injury.

Villopoto battled with the knee injury throughout his title-winning 2014 Monster Energy Supercross season.

Earlier, F1 legend and Mercedes team chairman Niki Lauda dismissed suggestions the sport should boycott the Sochi event amid the escalating Crimean crisis.

The British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) as well as many support divisions were at Thruxton Circuit last weekend and, despite great racing, one of the main take-away stories of the weekend was the quality of the tire piles and the dramatic accidents that emerged as a result.

It was a familiar story at the head of the MotoGP™ test timesheet in Jerez on Monday as World Champion Marc Marquez set the fastest lap of the post-Grand Prix workout.

Repsol Honda’s MotoGP™ championship leader – who missed the last preseason tests due to injury – made up for lost time with a 1’38.737 best effort recorded on the 28th of 55 laps around the 4.4km Jerez circuit where he took his fourth win of 2014 on Sunday.

Three F1 insiders have tipped Bernie Ecclestone to drive out of the corruption scandal not only with his freedom, but also the keys to the sport.

Some think the Gerhard Gribkowsky saga, that has already left the former F1 banker in jail, will almost certainly end Ecclestone’s long reign over Formula 1 and potentially see him live out his days behind bars. However, a trio of F1 insiders is not so sure.
