Damon Hill has counted himself out of the furore surrounding the new ‘double points’ innovation for 2014.

Mercedes boss Toto Wolff said recently the fans’ adverse reaction was akin to a “sh**storm,” and should give rule-makers pause to reconsider handing out twice as many points in the Abu Dhabi finale.

His predecessor, Norbert Haug, is also no fan.

The Suzuki Test Team was back in action as MotoGP testing resumed at the Sepang International Circuit last week. For Randy de Puniet and the squad, the focus on this occasion was the spec Magneti Marelli ECU hardware.

Ahead of Suzuki’s MotoGP return in 2015, it began testing last year with an ECU supplied by fellow Japanese company Mitsubishi. However, with 2014 marking the season from which every bike in the field must run ECU hardware supplied by Dorna Sports and Magneti Marelli, Suzuki began testing the spec device in Malaysia last week.

Yoshimura Suzuki’s James Stewart picked up his second consecutive Monster Energy Supercross victory Saturday night at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Stewart, a two-time series champion, moved past Ryan Dungey for the lead on Lap 3 and controlled the pace to claim his 47th career victory – one shy of tying Ricky Carmichael for second on the all-time 450SX Class wins list.

STEWART WINS BACK-TO-BACK 450 CLASS RACES

17-year-old Adam Cianciarulo picked up his first career 250SX victory in his Monster Energy Supercross debut Saturday night.

The Pro Circuit Kawasaki young gun kicked off the Eastern Regional 250SX Class Championship by leading 12 laps en route to a main event win at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Here are five things you need to know about round seven of the Monster Energy Supercross Championship in Arlington, Texas:

ROCZEN FASTEST 450 QUALIFIER

After two timed sessions, Ken Roczen emerged as the fastest rider in the 450SX Class. The rookie jumped to the top spot on his final lap with a with a time of 45.469, one tenth of a second quicker than James Stewart. Behind Stewart was reigning Champion Ryan Villopoto, Justin Barcia and Justin Brayton. 2010 Champion Ryan Dungey qualified sixth followed the RCH Racing duo of Josh Hill and Broc Tickle. Andrew Short and Eli Tomac rounded out the top 10.

REED WILL NOT RACE

Chad Reed will not race in Arlington due to the injuries he sustained in a crash last weekend in San Diego. Reed confirmed the news via his Twitter account, stating that his shoulder “popped out” during the second and final timed session. He immediately left the stadium to get an MRI and additional x-rays.
