MotoGP: Bradley Smith Pinpoints Race Simulation As Most Vital In Testing

Bradley Smith insists that race simulation runs are currently the top priority in preseason testing, predicting races will be “quite different” in MotoGP this year.

In 2014, Smith will contest a second full season with Monster Yamaha Tech3 as the field is split between either Factory Option or Open machines. Following the first day of testing at Sepang in Malaysia on Tuesday, Englishman Smith summed up events.

For 2014, Nicky Hayden is one of four riders to be piloting the all-new Honda RCV1000R customer bike. The 2006 World Champion continued to adapt to the machine as the Sepang Official MotoGP test started on Tuesday.

American Hayden completed Day 1 in 17th position as he continued his apprenticeship with the Drive M7 Aspar team.

It may be bigger, but it’s still pretty cute.

A custom car shop in England has built a street-legal, motorized replica of the classic Little Tikes Cozy Coupe toy car, The Sunday Times reports.

Starting with a wrecked Daewoo Matiz (also sold as the Chevy Spark and itself a very tiny car,) the folks at Attitude Autos sawed it in half and shorted it, removed the rear doors, and reworked the body to look just like the original, down to its yellow roof and single driver’s side door, although it did retain the donor car’s two-abreast seating.

Valentino Rossi was pleased for two key reasons on Tuesday, as he finished the first day of the Sepang MotoGP test in second place as well as rectifying braking issues that plagued the nine-time World Champion in 2013.

Rossi shot up to second place on the timesheets during the final half hour of running time, with the Yamaha Factory Racing rider ending proceedings second only to Repsol Honda Team’s World Champion Marc Marquez.

Luca di Montezemolo agreed behind closed doors that the controversial ‘double points’ innovation is necessary for Formula One.

That is the claim of F1 chief executive Bernie Ecclestone, despite Ferrari president Montezemolo having claimed on record that he is opposed to the unpopular idea.
