Lewis Hamilton says he doesn’t feel that he has asserted himself over Nico Rosberg, despite earning another pole in China today, thus giving himself a great chance of securing a third straight win.

Rosberg was down in fourth, some 1.3 seconds off his Mercedes teammate.

Nico Rosberg says tires will be the key to the Chinese GP, an event that has always put a big strain on the front left.

Rosberg starts from fourth, separated from teammate Lewis Hamilton by the two Red Bulls.

“It will be a tough race, because the left front tire is a big issue,” said Rosberg. “For sure there will be things happening, some people will struggle more than others. I had a good run on Friday, so I’m going into it confidently, knowing that I’ve this Red Bull package in the middle, which is not very helpful. But that’s the way it is, and with the top speed that I have I’m hoping that I manage to get by them somehow.

Given how he finished last season, Sebastian Vettel’s start to the 2014 Formula 1 campaign has been humbling, to say the least.

Last year, the German reeled off nine straight victories, matching the record set by Alberto Ascari in 1952 and `53, to capture his fourth consecutive World Championship with ease.

Toyota has shown the first blood in the new-look LMP1 class, with the Japanese manufacturer claiming pole for Sunday’s FIA WEC Six Hours of Silverstone.

A late flyer by Kazuki Nakajima put the No. 7 Toyota TS040 Hybrid on the top spot, thanks to Nakajima and co-driver’s Alex Wurz’s four-lap average of 1:42.774 in the intense 25-minute prototype qualifying session.

The Toyota’s average time narrowly edged out the No. 1 Audi R18 e-tron quattro, qualified by Tom Kristensen and Loic Duval, by just 0.005 seconds.

After the second staging of the Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas at the state-of-the-art track in Austin, Bridgestone have reviewed the weekend from a tire perspective, after another busy event for the premier class tire supplier.

Track conditions for the race at the Circuit of The Americas were dry, although much cooler than the practice and qualifying sessions. A peak track temperature of just 33°C was recorded during the 21-lap race. Masao Azuma, Chief Engineer, Bridgestone Motorsport Tire Development Department, reviewed the weekend, as follows:
