Lewis Hamilton continued Mercedes’ dominant start to the season by capturing pole position at the rainy Chinese Grand Prix on Saturday; his third pole in four races this season.

Hamilton set the fastest time in qualifying at 1 minute, 53.860 seconds at Shanghai International Circuit, ahead of Red Bull drivers Daniel Ricciardo and Sebastian Vettel in second and third position.

Red Bull driver Daniel Ricciardo set the fastest time on a slippery track in the final practice session at the Chinese Grand Prix on Saturday as the other top drivers limited their running due to the wet weather.

Ricciardo completed his lap around the Shanghai International Circuit in 1 minute, 53.958 seconds, about 0.5 seconds faster than Felipe Massa of Williams in second. Lotus driver Romain Grosjean set the third-fastest time of the morning.

Pastor Maldonado has hit out at the new ‘penalty points’ system that could see him having to serve a race ban later in 2014.

After just the opening three grands prix of the season, the Venezuelan already has three ‘demerit points’ against his F1 super license.

A new era of sports car racing begins this weekend at Silverstone, as the ACO’s much-anticipated 2014 LMP1 regulations debut in the FIA World Endurance Championship.

The game-changing set of technical rules sees the premier prototype class now not only measured by speed, but also efficiency, with each car limited to a specified fuel allocation. It marks as much as a 30 percent reduction in consumption from last year.
